Introducing Real-time Heart Rate Zone Notifications

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is gaining in popularity as an efficient way to get in shape and lose weight.

Monitoring your heart rate is the key to getting in the right zone

During a HIIT session, your heart rate should clock in at 90 percent or more above your maximum heart rate for 10-20 seconds at a time, alternating with a few minutes of easy exercise. However, when you’re trying to hit that 90 percent target, glancing at your band to check your heart rate might be difficult.

Now, Microsoft Band gives you real-time heart rate zone notifications

Now your Microsoft Band can tell you exactly when you hit your target heart rate zones, and for how long, while using the Run, Bike, and Exercise Tiles. When you reach each zone, your heart rate display will change color: orange for 80 percent and red for 90 percent. When your workout is finished, look at the summary on your band for the total amount of time you spent in each zone.

Personalize your training

The heart rate zones your band monitors are not the generic zones you’ve seen on the dashboard of a treadmill or elliptical machine. They are your personal heart rate zones, based on your data from previous exercise sessions.

Start training more effectively in your target heart rate zones with help from your Microsoft Band!

This post was corrected on June 12. It incorrectly stated that you receive a haptic alert when your heart rate reaches 80 or 90 percent of your maximum. We apologize for this error.
